In reply to Kate @ booksaremyfavouriteandbest. You're absolutely right! I'm reading The Sellout now and his writing is so laser sharp compared to these two. Actually, the writing wasn't bad it was the plot overload and absurdity that made them such poor choices.

I just finished reading Salt to the Sea and it is my new “shout-from-the-rooftops everyone-must-read book”!! Loved loved loved it! I would say, if you liked All the Light We Cannot See (one of my favorite reads ever!), you would like this…I think. It is a similar format, though different… Great characters! I don’t believe I would have selected either of these. Especially after looking at the Goodreads ratings. Pretty low… There are just so many more that would interest me more. Glad to know that I would probably not have enjoyed them. I, like you, would have those same feelings of disgust at the infidelity. I just can’t condone it. Having been cheated on by a legal spouse from whom I felt I had endured so much, just further confirmed my feelings on this matter. It is a choice! You either decide to have sex with someone else or you don’t. Pretty simple, if you ask me! 🙂

You know, I reckon sometimes it’s good to read bad, bad books because it gives you a point of reference again – resets the goal posts, so to speak. Except you don’t necessarily want to read two shockers in a row!
