Our local indie bookstore owner attended BEA and is loaning me ARCs to read! I am anxious for The Other Einstein! The Blind Astronomer’s Daughter looks interesting, too. Glad you were able to meet as many authors as you did!

I loved Jessie Burton's debut so I stalked the booth for that galley drop- made the HarperCollins woman VERY cranky. I guess my mother is talking about her summer house- who knows? I just relayed the message like a good daughter!

I didn’t get the Patchett book either, and I think I was at the booth about 5 minutes after the galley drop 🙁 Same thing happened with The Muse by Jesse Burton, but for the most part I got all the others (and more) that were on my list. I’m also a Vermont native (so maybe your mom and I should be friends?), but I believe Jodi lives in New Hampshire (close enough, I know).

Catherine, it looks like you had a very successful trip! I love that you were able to see both Amor Towles (can’t wait for this new one!) and George Saunders (also a big favorite); I also love this story about visiting Jodi Picoult for your mom. That is so great! I agree that they should definitely be friends. I would love to attend BEA sometime; new books and authors are just so exciting to me! I’m very much looking forward to Commonwealth; I read an excerpt yesterday and I’m completely hooked.

I met Suzan Lori-Parks, the playwright, a couple of months ago. She attended my alma mater, so we had a great chat and I got a very personalized autograph on my book.
