Hmm. Interesting, sounds like the ending sort of blew it, on what was rather a good read. The author is coming to the book festival here in October so I’d like to get to it before then. If the writing it good then it seems worth it. Though the subject matter will be tough for me!

I’m sorry this didn’t work better for you. I haven’t written it off entirely, but may sample it if I end up having time (which I don’t see myself having). It does sound like it has the potential to be a gorgeous, if not heart-breaking story.

EXACTLY what I thought about the end (it felt very, very unrealistic). I’ve been trying to write a review for this, but found it too difficult to wrap up my feelings. I loved the writing, but I think I enjoyed the book in pieces more than a whole and would love to see what she could do given a more modern subject.
