Not at all- Wilson makes it very 'real'. Neither science fictionish or hippie dippy. I think that's why I liked it. When I finished I thought 'could this work?'

This does sound like a book that would make you think! I did anticipate a free-love commune type of thing and I'm more interested now that I know the author makes it interesting in other ways instead.

I adored this one! It was my favorite read of the year so far. I felt like a fly on the wall in some crazy reality TV show. I could 100% see this adapted for television actually. The parent dynamic was so interesting to read about and Izzy, trying to figure it all out without a partner. I really, truly loved it.

Oooh, I've seen this one floating around but had not taken the time to read more about it; this topic sounds very interesting! I may have to give this one a try, one of these days; thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I think there are definitely some advantages to growing up in a dysfunctional, conflicted household...I've got plenty of stories, at the very least. :)

Perfect Little World had been on my TBR for a few months. I've hesitated because I didn't like The Family Fang very much, but thought the premise for Perfect Little World was unique. Now with your review, I'm still undecided! Maybe I just need to wait until I'm in the right mood or until no other books are jumping out at me?

It's not a mommy book, for sure, but definitely about parenting and communal living. Not hardcore serious, either, just interesting.

I usually need to feel some emotion to be invested in a book, but I think I could get into this one. Depending on how all the parenting stuff shakes out, I could either love it or hate it.
