Maybe start with Blood and Beauty. You're right about the non-fiction. I did the same thing and found almost nothing about Lucrezia.

I'm completely engrossed by Enemies- what is with these male rulers?! Thankfully, the French just had mistresses and didn't kill their wives but still...

It all means I'm watching Versailles again- to see on the screen what I'm reading on the page.

I almost picked up Blood and Beauty because of you the other day. But I feel like maybe I've been reading too much historical fiction lately? (As I finish up The Enemies of Versailles and go back to Queen Margot)

You're really making me want to read this though! I've tried to read non-fiction about Lucrezia but since they didn't actually care about women at the time, it really became about the men around her. You know how I feel about that! This sounds like it has struck a good balance on that front. I've only read half a book by Sarah Dunant - In the Company of the Courtesan was one of my early DNFs.

Still, I'm inclined to give her another spin...

She sure knows how to make the times interesting! Of course, the Borgias were basically a tabloid family. The father used the Church as his bank account.
