So does the spirit world get to be too much in this story? I want to read it -- as some are thinking Jesmyn Ward might win another National Book Award with this one. There's a lot of hype about it so I plan to check it out.

I'm so glad I've already written my review for Sing, Unburied Sing. It's always harder when I've read your beautiful words. The supernatural didn't bother me. it seemed like a great way of tying the past and the present which sadly, ended up being not all that dissimilar. Ward is such a powerful writer of the modern, southern, black experience. I really liked it!
