Reading about that kind of risky behavior would just make me feel all around bad. It’s the one part of The Perks of Being a Wallflower that I didn’t love. I don’t understand how people are not scared to death to engage in that kind of behavior. And that’s not judgement, I just don’t get it.

I’m glad to be guided away from this book. I shall continue to enjoy Nancy Pearl as a book maven extraordinaire and not be disappointed by her fiction.

Oh, bummer. I literally just started this last night, in the hopes it would be better than the book I started a few days ago. I was hoping my disappointment in the first 30 pages would evaporate. Sounds like it might not.

Wow, I feel better after reading your review because I felt exactly the same way about this book. The characters — especially Lizzie, but also George — just didn’t make sense to me. I really wanted to love this book because of Nancy Pearl, so I kept hoping.
