Okay, I am becoming increasingly disturbed by this trend (I don’t know what else to call it!) to leave out the quotation marks; I have read several recent/upcoming releases lately by authors who have chosen to eliminate them and I DON’T LIKE IT. Rant over – ha! I have seen this book floating around social media quite a bit, and was intrigued by the premise, but I’ll hold off. Thank you for another great review, Catherine!

In reply to Lauren. It's no a big novel so it wouldn't take you long. I think because Ezra is in the first and last section it's a 'novel', but I do not get the Amar section. It is beautifully written and powerful- with a very subtle twist but what it has to do with Alice I have no idea.

I fear I will be in the same boat as you, Catherine: loving the writing but shaking my head over the plot. So many reviewers have praised Halliday’s writing but admitted some head-scratching after reading her debut. Guess I need to jump in the fray! Another great review and I thank you.

Interesting review, Catherine. I have not heard of this book. And while the stories/chapters themselves sound really intriguing, I find it really intriguing this is billed as a novel when it clearly seems to be stories. I hate it when I think I’m missing something about a book and can’t figure it out. Still, these sound like they might be up my alley, more so if I went in understanding they might feel unrelated. Hard to figure this one.

I think that skipping this one was right for me, though the first two parts do sound interesting. I find myself most curious about Alice and her relationship with a much older man. Two out of three parts working isn’t bad, but having to hunt for connections drives me nuts!
