In reply to Lauren. I think you already know this about my ratings but 3 is a good not great. And that's exactly what this book was. It felt as if she didn't have enough runway for landing and so picked an easy conclusion.

In reply to Susie | Novel Visits. I have my limits but they're mostly with blood and gore. I cannot do horror at all. But ghostly, unseen things? I can take it in the right amounts and St. James got it right.

Paranormal is a real stumbling block for me when it comes to books. (Not big on spooky movies either.) I’m glad you took the hit on The Broken Girls. I think it’s one I need to skip.

So I always look at your star ratings first. Probably not the only one. I had heard good things about this book, so was curious about the three stars. I am on the fence about reading it, so rather than glossing over the review I read it in full. Sigh. I realize how hard it is to stick a landing. But there are few things more disappointing than a 4-5 star book that loses you in the end, which is what this feels like. I kept reading your review thinking, “huh, this sounds really great, wonder when the catch is coming.” And there it was, at the end. Thanks for putting this all in a review, it really helped me decide that for me this is perhaps one best left on the shelf.
