In reply to Amanda. You are the THIRD person in one day to mention Peace Like a River so obviously I need to read it! He definitely gives you a sense of both the beauty and the difficulty with so much snow, cold, and darkness.

Thank you for helping me test them! They seem to work if I open and approve immediately, but they disappear if I close WP and come back. Grrr.

You’re the second person to mention Peace Like a River so I need to add that to my TBR.

I’m the same way- once Oct is over I’ll be doing mostly backlist reading and I can’t wait!

I also liked Peace Like a River and didn’t pick up that Virgil Wander was by the same author. I’m even more intrigued now. Once I get through with my October books (3 more to go) then the rest of my year will be much lighter and I can get to some of the more “just for me” books! ***Looks like your comments are working again. I cannot remember Peace Like a River except that I loved it. I think I need to pick that up again and then seek this one out. Reading about a story in Minnesota seems like good winter reading to come.

Comfort is the perfect word. He goes bigger with his plot than Haruf ever did, but I still really enjoyed it.

Funny, whenever I see Leif Enger’s name (and I was very excited to learn this novel was forthcoming) I think of Kent Haruf. Was happified to see you mention his name. Gosh I miss him. Glad this Enger hit the mark. No clue when I’ll get to it, but it’s a comfort to know it’s there waiting.
