I’ve read most of DFW’s works. I rate this at the top for his fiction. Some beautifully written passages, deep characters as children then adults. I think this would be rated as his number one, had he lived to complete it.

I have not tried Mr. Wallace’s books yet but long books about the IRS don’t really entice me either. It sounds bizarre. I will skip this one despite him being this cult writer that many readers or critics love. Hmm. what is that all about?

I’m left wondering why? Why did you decide to read this in the first place and why did you go back to it? It sounds excruciatingly painful!
