In reply to Lory. I’m still having trouble finding the right word. The stories are dense and difficult, but she didn’t get the same tone with the characters- if that makes sense.

The premise and characters of this book sound amazing, so it’s a little sad the author didn’t go deep enough with her story. Thanks to you, I have a copy of this one and may give it a try at some point. (When my immediate TBR list wanes, but who knows when that will be. Summer?)

Too bad about the superficiality you describe. I’ve been interested in Behind the Beautiful Forevers — sounds like that one may be a better read overall.
