In reply to Allison @ Mind Joggle. That was the most surprising thing to me. This should have been late fall or winter because it was all about the words. I've heard he is fascinating to hear. he's coming to the central library in July but there is just no way I can go.

Catherine, so glad to see your review of this book! It was a 4-star read for me as well–I loved the writing and continue to be blown away by most every quote I see from the book. I thought it got weaker toward the end, but that didn’t negate the strength of the majority of the book. I agree that it’s not great summer reading–I think I’d have preferred to sink into it in the winter, because I did have to force myself to slow down and savor it.

This has been on my list and actually just became an audio option at the library. I hesitate to do audio, because this feels like a work that needs to be “seen,” but I can get to it faster on audio so will give it a shot. Thanks for your insight on it, I’m looking forward to it even more.
