Good news- you don’t need to know the book at all! I’m just like you- I saw the movie ages ago (and thought it was way too long and confusing) and I never read the book. Everything you need to know is that the Communists DID NOT want it published.

I may have seen the movie a zillion years ago but have no recollection of it and I’ve never read the book. I sadly have a feeling that I’d be at a disadvantage going into the book without Dr. Z as a frame of reference. What do you think?
