Honestly, Susie, I think you could read this before the end of the year. Trump is a very ancillary character- not too much about his joke of a presidency. It goes far beyond that into topics I hadn't thought about. I'd love to discuss it with you!

Exactly! It was hard to read, like any great literary fiction. But it made me think and challenged my pre-conceived notions. And yet, with all that, it came down to a story about a man and his father the countries they love. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was there was some really graphic sexual stuff and I'm not a big fan.

Your review has really piqued my interest. I feel like a want to read this one, but think I need to be in a very calm headspace with some time to really savor it. (Were the Trump parts cringe-worthy?)

So the book is a bit challenging ... but you welcomed the challenge - is that what you'd say? I have it on my horizon to read but not sure when it will be yet ... sometimes autofiction doesn't thrill me ... but perhaps this book will be the exception.?
