Chosen was far more creative- fantasy, sexual fluidity whereas Beautiful is the same story and characters. I didn’t want to be disrespectful of the author, but she repeated a lot of descriptors, to the point it got annoying. Gatsby’s green eyes is one example. They were almost so different it’s hard to say, but the writing in Chosen wins the day for me.

Too funny- I was thinking the same thing. I’ve now read two retellings and feel as if I want to go back to the original and see if my feelings have changed.

It wasn’t quite ‘literature’, but just using those POVs is so different. Think of all the old classics that could be refreshed. And I don’t think it takes away from them, do you?
