In reply to Kristin. Eeewww. You're right, too much! This one worked because it didn't deal directly with the physical effects of COVID, just the odd dislocation of a city going quiet and forced proximity with some and social distancing with others.

Last year, midpandemic, I watched a Sundance movie called The Pink Cloud. It has the same starting point – couple waking up the morning after there first date end up stuck together (spoiler: for years!) after a toxic pink cloud settles over everything.

That was definitely too much, too soon (in the midst), but it is an interesting concept.
