It could be rough. It made my heart hurt for her. The only time she felt free was when she was dancing and yet she couldn’t stop comparing herself. At the same time Cuffy doesn’t descend into eating disorders for any of the dancers in the novel. Not to say they’re not there in reality, but there’s more awareness and attention paid in the novel.
