Agreed. My ‘favorite’ part of Razorblade was the relationship between the two fathers. That had some depth, but the violence was at the forefront.

He’s a guy’s guy writer, if that makes sense. This is about a serial killer and he doesn’t hold back on the what’s done to the victims, but it’s postmortem so is easier to skim if it feels like too much. I definitely felt like there was more development in the characters.

One of my complaints about Razorblade Tears is that I didn’t feel like it did a lot of reckoning with the big issues it raised (too many fight scenes, not enough introspection about the homophobia and racism). Sounds like this one may be worth picking up? I didn’t need it to be a LOT more but I wanted something more than what was in there.

I wonder if I will read this one. I loved his first but not as much his 2nd. So where will his 3rd be? But you liked it … where did it place among his three for you?
