In reply to Marie. Thank you! As unusual as the style is, you do get used to it and I did find it easier as it went but then the plot got so difficult...no room to breathe with this one.

In reply to Laura. Laura- I still can't say what exactly how many stars. I guess the story was simply too dark for me and that's what would keep me from 4. I'm just kind of tired of contemporary fiction where the women are all so self-destructive and there is no way to go but down. I don't need rainbows but this was brutal.

Each review I read makes me want to read this more. I’ve read everything from 1 to 5 star reviews. I was surprised to see in the comments you were wavering between 1 and 3. This felt like a 4 or 5 to me. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for in a book – as you noted.

I looked this over at the bookstore and read a few pages. I’m definitely interested and will read it at some point. I do think I’ll wait for paperback but it’s on my must-read list. I think I would enjoy it and after sampling the first ten pages I think I could tackle it. I’m not always up for fiction that is too experimental but she gave me just enough of a hook to hang on to and I look forward to reading the whole thing. I think you did a great job summarizing it!

In reply to Leah @ Books Speak Volumes. It was all that, Leah! I still haven't given it a star rating because I'm torn between 1 and 3. Or maybe 4. I respect the work but it was a dreadfully difficult and unpleasant book to read.

Magnetic poetry and yahtzee indeed! But it did feel it got easier to read as I went along. In the beginning i was struggling but after abut 30 pages i found the rhythm of it.
Are you going to go see here while she’s in Seattle?
