I’ve never liked her writing. I’m not sure why, but suspect it has something to do with a feeling that she uses topics in an exploitive way. Also, I usually can’t stand to spend much time in any one of her characters’ heads; they’re so claustrophobic.

In reply to Andi (@estellasrevenge). That's why I can't read too much of her or too often. She tackles the hardest subjects with such immersion that you're sucked in and it's not a comfortable place to be. But boy, she can write!

Oates always makes me feel so damn uncomfortable with the force and atmosphere in her writing. While that’s not always an easy thing, I admire her for it so so much. This sounds like an amazing read.

In reply to Jennine G.. It was solved in that the DA dismissed it due to a lack of evidence and determined that her story was fabricated. She has never taken responsibility nor has Al Sharpton.

Sounds like such a heart breaking read. Oates does that, doesn’t she. I have read very many of her books because she has so many. Very prolific writer. Thanks for the review.
