Thanks for letting me know about Siracusa — just reviewed it. I thought it was quite good and it had me hooked. Though it was quite dark. I thought the dialogue & narration were done well.

As a lover of all things (thus far) Koch, I’m fully on board with Mr. M. Siracusa wasn’t really on my radar until recently, when it started getting nice reviews from folks I trust. This one just adds to the list. As nitpicky as I can be, I’m much more forgiving with books unless something is really glaring or simply stupid. But if something keeps me enthralled, I’m much less likely to pick those nits. Glad this one held up, I’m pushing it up the list!

Siracusa: Haha – ain’t this the truth?! “upper crust of snow breaks” And I highlighted that same quote – it’s a great one!

I feel like this (“That he does so in a way that hints at some of the less-than-flattering things we ourselves may think is part of his dark gift.”) sums up Koch’s appeal to me perfectly.
