Goodbye, Vitamin is short so not a big time investment and you’re right- I don’t have a lot of 2017 5 star books so I did think it was amazing.

Wow 5 stars from you — I will check it out — I like humor at times in sad books — I just read & reviewed The Glass Castle and there is a bit of humor amid the grimness of it. For instance the last sentence of one chapter reads: “One thing about whoring: It put a chicken on the table.” which sort of cracked me up for a minute. I must be daft. cheers.

In reply to Susie | Novel Visits. That's interesting that it had the opposite effect on you! I kind of thought it was done that way because Ruth was a more controlled, removed kind of person and it gives the feel of observer.

Fantastic review! I feel like I learned more about Goodbye Vitamin after reading it. For me, this book was great on many levels, but I actually didn’t care for Ruth’s diary format, especially in the second half. Still, I did get teary and look forward to more from Khong.

I really loved this book as well! I like your description of the humor as aching. I just really think this was such a great story, I hope others will give it a try

Now I need to go back and re-read the last line! I’m glad you loved this one…her voice was just so real and endearing. I’m worried this won’t get the attention it deserves b/c it relies on the intangibles.
