I loved this one, too, Catherine. Frankel did such a great job of handling everyone in the family in such an authentic way. I just loved Rosie and Penn and wish that more kids could grow up with parents like them. Did you know that Frankel has a transgender child and though she was clear that this isn’t a true story, it certainly made her the perfect person to write Claude/Poppy’s story.

I loved them all as well. The twins made me laugh so hard. And Penn?! I feel as if this should be required reading for the world.

In reply to Tara. Yay!!! I read This Is How It Always Is immediately after The Rules of Magic so was feeling utterly blessed by the book gods. Of course, I kind of felt I deserved it because this year has been so meh for reading! You will love it. I know you will.

Okay, I just sort of skimmed your review because, believe it or not, I have YET to read this novel. Everyone I know, pretty much, has recommended this to me and I haven’t picked up a copy; your five-star endorsement may have done it. 🙂 I’ll come back and read more when I’ve finished; should be finished with Rules of Magic this evening and you have saved my fall reading with that one.
