I would strongly recommend that you read Adnan’s Story, not listen to it, because there is quite a bit of printed material in the book you’ll miss.

I have GOT to read Hunger. I am so bad about NF though. I read it at about half the pace of fiction and so even a 200 page book takes forever.

I have Adnan’s Story on audio and keep meaning to get to it. I think part of what is holding me back is the audio format. Which in some respects is perfect, but while listening to Serial I kept wishing I could see things in writing, to understand the maps and how things fit together better. I’m not sure if I’ll have the same issue with this one, but I imagine I might.

Thanks for the mention of Behind the Beautiful Forevers, it sounds like something I might want to dig into.

You should read Adnan’s Story- so much has happened even after the book came out. It gives a much clearer picture on how the media works.

Reading is my ‘job’ per se! Also, the best escape I know. You’re right, though, I’m always surprised how many books I missed out on!

You saw that I also loved Behind the Beautiful Forevers. It’s definitely depressing, but it was written so well that it made the stories of the people profiled come alive. I still think about it.

I definitely need to check out the Quindlen book for something a little lighter!

Good idea-it is difficult in its scope. It’s beyond anything we in America cold even imagine. I actually listened to it. The narrator’s voice is gorgeous.
