It almost slipped past my radar! The publisher is not being helpful with ARCs so I put it on hold at my library. I loved NeverHome so much so am curious to see what he does now.

p.s. You changed the name of your blog! I love it.

It's somehow slipped under the radar for every blogger I know! I almost didn't see it- the title is pretty unwieldy and the publisher is not sending out arcs (at least not to me!) so I put it on hold at the library. I loved Neverhome- thought it was so unique and moving.

Yeah the movie of House of Sand & Fog was excellent too. Each performance drew me in! Great cast. & heartbreaking & tension filled story!

I don't blame you- I was hesitant. He has an unusual style, but it's one that works for me. My only apprehension about it is it's about a powerful white man and I'm really not in a space for that these days!

Did you see the movie of House of Sand? I thought it was really well done and came close to the book.

I was surprised- October turned out to have more big releases than September. At least the kind I want to read. I already know I won't make it through all of them before November!

I like your list. So far I have only looked at September releases but I'm interested in the Atkinson & Kingsolver novels. Many good books, so little time. I better get cracking. I'll add the Andre Dubus to my list b/c House of Sand & Fog about killed me. thanks!

Great preview, Catherine! There are a few on here that have caught my eye. I admit, I've never given James Frey a chance after the Oprah debacle (I didn't read that one either). I'll probably wait for some reviews on this one, but maybe I'll consider trying it out.

I've pre-ordered the Atkinson, which is something I almost never do (as I work at the library.) But her books are so exquisite that I need to own them. I can't wait. I'm also excited about the Kingsolver, but I agree, her last two novels haven't been my favorites.
