Oh that’s disappointing about Danler’s memoir. I’ll approach it with caution, and not rush to read it.

I’m so jealous! Our library won’t even begin its first phase of opening until the end of June and they’ve already said it won’t involve letting patrons into the building. First of all, they have to quarantine all the books that will be returned and then get them back on the shelves?! That’s huge and there won’t be an extra budget for anything. Thankfully, the e-books are strong so my reading hasn’t been hit too hard. Except, like you, I’m struggling with it.

Your choices look great! I think you’ll really like both Rodham and All Adults- they’re each quite different so will complement each other. And I’ve heard good things about A Good Marriage. I loved her novel Reconstructing Amelia.

Thanks for the recommendation! I did find many aspects of the Norwegian WWII history fascinating so was thinking I’d like to learn more. I also ended up feeling (and maybe it’s the times) why do I want to read about a book about a sadist? About a little man (literally) filled with nothing but hate and entitlement. I’m not in the place for that right now.

I can’t wait for you to read Rodham. I don’t want to say anymore than that. It is so twisted!

I did like your podcast chat with Sarah very much — as always! Very good picks & an entertaining discussion & humor too, thanks for it! Too bad about some of your May reads … I’m quite disappointed by Danler, Ugh! I so liked Sweetbitter … that I don’t think I will go near Stray … it might give me the yips about future reads etc. Why did she do it? But the Rodham book … seems up my alley. I’ll just need to figure out the right timing for it. The Norwegian book you mention seems quite harsh about such a traitor etc … if you ever need an epic nonfiction true Norwegian WWII tale … check out We Die Alone by David Howarth … holy smokes it’s like Into Thin Air times 3. Enjoy your June reads and stay far from the crazies.

I am definitely finding it harder to enjoy reading now days versus before the pandemic. My reading has fallen by almost half. I used to read at least 8 books a month, this month it will be 5 books, last month it was 6 books. Part of that may be that the library was closed for about 6 weeks, it is back open. Only one of my new request has come in. I currently have 13 titles on request, they are all newly released books. I think the library is way behind on processing the new books they received while closed.
Your month in books looks good to me, and the books you gave bad ratings seem to be getting a lot of bad reviews so its not you its the book.
I think I might like to read Rodham, All Adults Here, A Good
Marriage. Thank you for your honest reviews.
