It is very thought provoking, especially right now. Addresses (in a historical context) the prejudice experienced by people with darker skin tones within a race. I’ve read other fiction about Indians and Koreans where lighter skin tone is seen as “better”, but this is the first time I’ve read anything about Blacks.
