I’m reading Anxious People now and it’s not quite panning out. It has a frantic feel- the characters are bordering on caricatures. We’ll see.

I’ll have to look into both of those!

I have Anxious People on my list.

The two I’m most looking forward to are by Australian authors – Trent Dalton’s All Our Shimmering Skies and The Dressmaker’s Secret by Rosalie Ham (sequel to The Dressmaker).

Yay, I like your fall preview … and I hope to listen to the podcast soon. Always fun to hear! For Sept., we both have Homeland Elegies on our lists. I’m usually not a huge fan of “autofiction” but the book has received a lot of praise … so I plan to check it out regardless. I’m also hoping Sue Miller’s and Yaa Gyasi’s novels this month are good. I need escape right? Impressed that you finished your first summer in Michigan … way to go. Will that state be turning blue in November? Or is it still worrisome?

Great episode, Catherine. We have so many fall books in common, but I definitely see a couple here I need to consider. I feel similarly to you about the new Jodi Picoult book. I go back and forth with her and while The Book of Two Ways sounds really interesting to me, I let the length scare me off. I’ll need to let you vet it for me.
