In reply to Melisssa Wilson. I noticed this too and by my calculations based on his age he would have had to start college at 14 in order to earn a bachelors degree, have two years of work experience, and completed applications for the position.

In reply to Melisssa Wilson. Interesting, I hadn't thought about the FBI aspects in such detail! I mostly liked the novel for its indigenous people's perspective. I loved learning a little about the culture. Beyond that it did feel very geared towards YA.

While this book was a bit of a page turner for me overall I thought it was just okay, the thing that bothered me the most is the age of the FBI agent being 22. You cannot even apply to the FBI until you are 23 and then it’s a long process to be hired and assigned. Throughout the book I kept waiting for the “agent” to be called out as a fraud and assumed he was more involved in the drugs and murder. To me it was either poor editing, poor research or the author, editor publisher knew this but didn’t want to change the relationship story. I can see that a budding relationship between a 17 yo girl and a 26 yo FBI agent has issues of it’s own! Perhaps I am being a bit persnickety but I do not think I would read anything else by this author, especially YA!
