My ‘review,’ which is just really what I parrot anytime I talk about this book: I loved it, I hated it, I was impressed by it, maddened by it, loved it again, hated it again, multiple times, and ultimately have little idea where I ended up, other than I’m fairly certain I can’t remember a book that made me feel so thrown around emotionally and yet consistently remained something I couldn’t put down. You, as always, said things more eloquently and fully. Lol.

In reply to JonathanVan Etten. This take right here is why I love the book so much. It was a nice reminder that the world isn’t sunshine and rainbows everywhere, and there are modern day dystopias that we aren’t exposed to everyday.

Your review is spot on. I loved the writing style and could completely see and hear Honey off the page and in my mind’s eye thanks to his writing.

That said, your comment about the tempo of her emotions is spot on. Her relationships with the painter and Jocelyn didn’t feel realistic because of this.
