news

No review today, my dears. Just an update and some positive, fun news. No, it’s not about my hair which is a hot mess, but I’m owning growing in the gray and, more importantly, I’m happy and healthy.

You may have noticed, from time to time I mention and post links to a podcast I appear on called Sarah’s Book Shelves Live. Well, it seems people like hearing me talk about books with Sarah so I’ll be guest hosting with her more frequently starting this year. It means I need to re-evaluate my goals with the blog as it’s a lot more work, but here’s what lies ahead so far:

  • Four times a year we meet to discuss the books we’re most looking forward to reading for the upcoming season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). Then we have an episode in Nov/Dec where we talk about the older release books we read during the year, which is fun because they’re easy to get at the library—nice to save a bit of money that time of year.

  • Sarah heard from her listeners that they’d like to hear our thoughts about the books after we’ve read them so she’s adding four Circle Back episodes when we revisit the books and share our opinions.

  • If you sign up for a Patreon account (link here) you get bonus episodes with all of Sarah’s guests. You get you even more reading options and opinions. So much bookish fabulousness!

If you love reading, then you really need to check out Sarah’s podcast. I’m just one of the many kinds of guests she has on, from audiobook narrators to authors, literary agents, publicists, and other professionals in the book world. Whatever you like to read, Sarah’s probably discussed it. You can find and subscribe to her wherever you listen to podcasts (Apple, Google, Overcast,…).

Along those lines I’ll wrap up with a link to the latest episode which came out today. Sarah and I go WAAAAAAAY back before we were book reviewers and talk about 16 fabulous books we loved from years ago. So much fun and I added even more books to my to-be-read list. Also, I’m also still a brunette in the photo. Woo hoo!

Listening to the backlist Patreon episode yesterday was so fun! You add so much value and perspective to the podcast. I’d highly encourage anyone who isn’t a patron yet to do so! There is an abundance of extra book content.

Thank you so much! There’s another episode today- I think people are going to get sick of me.

Are you enjoying this sunny weather? They keep saying rain, but we haven’t had any yet.

Thank you and thank you so much for supporting my blog! I know blogs aren’t as popular anymore but I love writing about books almost as much as I love talking about them.

That’s great Catherine! I’m so glad you’ll be on Sarah’s podcast a lot more frequently. I really enjoy the episodes you both do together. They are fun and have a lot of good info in them. I enjoy listening, so I’m looking forward to more this year. But I also hope you don’t disappear from your blog …. as I enjoy your reviews & writing. Congrats on this good news.

Thank you so much for these kind words and being such a supporter. The consensus seems to be blogs are dead, but I’m not a huge fan of Instagram. Words are my thing, not photos. I’m trying to find the best balance.

I absolutely love you in this podcast. You being such a different view on books and I love that you don’t always read the “it” book at the moment. I’m so happy you will be on more. You have a great way with words.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I do tend to read less commercial books, but because I don’t read ahead it means my stats are not as great. I’m kind of wondering if we should even bother with those. Thanks again!
