Kingdom of the Blind by Louise Penny

November 28, 2018

kingdom

Last Thursday one of the things I gave thanks for was the opportunity to head back to Three Pines and visit all its wonderful inhabitants in Louise Penny’s latest novel, Kingdom of the Blind. It’s the 14th book in her Chief Inspector Gamache series and finds Gamache suspended from the Sûreté. He’s being investigated for, among other things, letting the largest ever shipment of ... August Reading Wrap-Up

August 30, 2018

august

Where did this summer go?! I’m pretty sure I lost the month of July completely. August was a bit better and for my reading as well. I had three books I absolutely loved, but did struggle with finding the right blend of reading. I had a streak of intense, timely novels that mirrored reality too closely and left me drained. An occupational hazard, I guess! Of course, next month ... Read More...

March Reading Wrap-Up

March 30, 2018

March

Lion or lamb is the big question, both for the weather and March's reading. In Seattle we often had lion-like winds and cold temps but with the bright sunshine-y fun that feels as cute and welcome as  lambs. In reading, I have to say if I look at the two to mean strength versus weakness then it was a lamb-y March. Only one new release made it to 4 stars while the others ... Read More...

December Reading Wrap-Up

December 28, 2017

december

So ends December and 2017! It was not an easy year. Initially, books didn’t even help but eventually reading became my escape again (to the tune of 183 books read). 2017 ended strong with November providing me with some of my favorite books of all time. December was a bit more hit or miss, with what I read below. You can check out my favorites for the year here and ... Read More...

November Reading Wrap-Up

December 1, 2017

november

Who knew November could be a blockbuster month for reading? I can’t go so far as to say the books were blockbusters, but I read a lot of them. The best part? I redeemed myself during Nonfiction November 2017 by reading 5 nonfiction books! That’s more than I’ve read in the last two years combined. Granted most of them were under 300 pages, but maybe that’s the secret to ... Read More...

Glass Houses by Louise Penny

October 30, 2017

glass

There’s nothing like stumbling upon an established author, falling in love, and finding out they have a substantial backlist of books. It’s even better when the books are part of a series because it means getting to go back to the beginning without having to wait for the next book—guaranteeing great reading for a long time. And in these days of meh/blah reading, having ... Read More...
