PNBA 2014

September 29, 2014

PNBA

On Saturday I attended PNBA- the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association trade show. The organization supports independent bookstores in the Pacific Northwest and once a year they bring together publishers, authors and other book-related companies. This year the event was held in Tacoma, WA at the Hotel Murano. I went to see what the publishers are talking about for spring ... Read More...

Armchair BEA 2014 Introduction

May 26, 2014

Last year I went to BEA and it was like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and the fashion closet in Devil Wears Prada all rolled into one- excitement and activity beyond belief.   Unfortunately, living on the opposite coast means it's a bit expensive to go every year and while I love reading and blogging it's not bringing in the big bucks. I was surprised and ... Read More...

Dewey’s Readathon Recap

April 27, 2014

I'd love to say I made it until 5am but I didn't. By 1:30am I was loopy enough to think that all I needed was fresh air and I should go out and take a walk- in the midst of urban Seattle. Thankfully, I reconsidered but even sitting in an uncomfortable desk chair and taking a brief nap didn't help so I headed to bed hoping to read some more before crashing. All told I made it ... Dewey’s Readathon: Introducing the Books

April 26, 2014

dewey's readathon

Twice a year the book blog world stops its reading for, well...reading. But not just reading, nothing but READING for 24 hours. It's Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon, a time when chores go undone, family is ignored, and bad TV goes unwatched. Instead book lovers find different spaces to curl up in and read as many books as are physically possible. In theory, I am thrilled for the ... Read More...

University Book Store

February 14, 2014

Earlier this week I had such a great afternoon I knew I had to share it with all my readers AND tell you to stop reading and head to your local university. OK, don’t get in the car but at least google their bookstore. Why? Because, it could turn out to be the kind of place you escape to and not the stodgy, textbook filled tomb of your college days. I’m aging myself right now ... Read More...

2014 TBR Pile Challenge: Master List

January 3, 2014

2014 TBR

Hello 2014! I hope all of you had a nice holiday season and, if applicable, some time off from work to read. I got a few books read (and need to get writing about them) but was also able to visit more of the blogs I enjoy. It was when I was visiting Shannon at River City Reading that I first saw the 2014 TBR Challenge. TBR means To Be Read—which is the shorthand we book freaks ... Read More...
