Ten Books as Unusual as Their Titles

October 25, 2017

unusual

Another week, another top ten list! I’ve not done a lot of these in the past, but I’m at the point in my 2017 reading that I’d rather come up with fun book options for my readers than write a review of another book that left me uninspired. I don’t know about other bloggers, but there are two kinds of reviews that come naturally to me: those for books I’m evangelical ... Read More...

Top 10 Books That Made Me Say Yum!

October 19, 2017

As fall settles in, my need for all things sugar-y, creamy, warm, salty, and comforting goes through the roof, keeping me focused on food—even in my reading. So, it’s perfect timing to join The Broke and the Bookish for their Top Ten this week: Books with yummy food in them. Even better is that while each of these books has many occurrences of yummy food throughout, it is only ... Read More...

September Reading Wrap-Up

October 2, 2017

september

Goodbye summer! What an odd one it was—mostly chilly, but dry with only three days got that anywhere near hot. The worst of it was in with the fires in the Columbia Gorge when, even though we live up in Seattle, we had ash settling on our deck, trapping the heat and smoke for almost a week of hot, sticky, smelly weather. My reading was odd as well—four DNFs in June and mostly ... Read More...

There is a great meme out there called Top Ten Tuesday. It’s hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and each week provides a bookish topic for book bloggers to write about. Two weeks ago it was Ten Books You Loved Before You Started Blogging. Two of my favorite bloggers, Sarah’s Book Shelves and Novel Visits posted their lists and the trip down memory lane was fantastic. ... Read More...

August Reading Wrap-Up

August 30, 2017

august

Good bye August and goodbye summer! I complain a fair bit, but here is one thing that I absolutely loved about this summer in Seattle. We only had maybe three days all told when it got above 90°. The majority of the summer was in the mid-70s with dry, sunny days and chilly nights. My kind of weather. I wish I could be as upbeat about my reading, but this year continues to be a ... Eight Books I Can’t Wait to Read This Fall

August 28, 2017

eight

Wow. Apparently, this summer is over. September and back-to-school and all those markers heralding fall arrive next week. I wish I had a great book to wrap up my summer Monday reviews, but the high expectations I had for The Resurrection of Joan Ashby crashed and burned so I was left with nothing to review for today. In lieu of my opinion (which can get exhausting, I know), I ... Read More...
